5 Red Flags to Watch for When Choosing an AV Engineering Partner

But choosing an engineering partner primarily because they are the cheapest option can become expensive very quickly.

Poor-quality documentation and delayed deliverables can create confusion during coordination and installation. By the time those problems reach the job site, the savings from a lower engineering rate can disappear quickly.

The cheapest engineering option is not necessarily the lowest-cost option.

Instead of evaluating price alone, integrators should look at the provider’s credibility and track record.

How long have they been supporting the industry? Can they provide meaningful customer references? Does the leadership team have firsthand experience in the market? Does the company have the technical credentials to support the services it is selling?

The qualifications of the people actually doing the work matter too.

Are the drawings being created by professionals who understand the AV industry, or by general-purpose drafters and engineers with little knowledge of integration workflows?

Price should be part of the evaluation, but never the entire evaluation.

The right partner should understand the AV industry, adapt to your standards, communicate effectively, and become a natural extension of your team.
